Football Recap: Farrell Falls to Hickory in First Game of Season

Farrell kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They and the Hickory Hornets were almost perfectly matched up, but the Steelers suffered a 13-12 defeat. If the Steelers were looking for revenge after losing 35-31 to the Hornets when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Farrell lost, don't look at Juelz Johnson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 185 yards while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Johnson's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 125 rushing yards dating back to last season. Jadon King-Vincent got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Kelvin Morrison went supernova For Hickory., rushing for 194 yards while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those 194 rushing yards gave Morrison a new career-high.

Coming up, Farrell will challenge Fort LeBoeuf at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hickory, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Conneaut Area at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
