Basketball Recap: Fulton Science Academy Mustangs vs. Dominion Christian Knights
The Fulton Science Academy Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Dominion Christian, falling 69-16. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fulton Science Academy in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost four in a row.
Dominion Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reagan Koop led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Koop has scored all season. Emory Maiyer was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Fulton Science Academy dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.4 points per game. As for Dominion Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fulton Science Academy will take on the Hawks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Howard's defense has only allowed 24.5 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Dominion Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. Atlanta Girls' School is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
