Softball Recap: North Arlington Wins Going Away Against Harrison

North Arlington's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Harrison Blue Tide. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Blue Tide: they've now won five in a row.

Jacklyn Burbach made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Isabella Buccheri and Kyra Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Buccheri went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Garcia went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cadence Mansfield, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

North Arlington's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Harrison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-15.

Coming up, North Arlington will face off against Teaneck at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Highwaymen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.79 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Harrison, they will square off against Weehawken at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
