Softball Recap: Monte Vista Starts Season with Victory Against Miramonte

Monte Vista had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Miramonte Matadors by a score of 6-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Samantha Kaiman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 16 Ks. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Hailey Frantz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gemma Hughes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Miramonte's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Mustangs coming up. As for Miramonte, they will face off against College Park at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
