Baseball Recap: Cleburne Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Cleburne dropped their record down to 20-8 on Saturday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars. The Yellowjackets were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Jaguars' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Midlothian Heritage, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For Midlothian Heritage's part, Carter Rutenbar was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Rutenbar has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Gavin Railsback, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Cleburne and Midlothian Heritage should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Yellowjackets will square off against Seguin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (200 vs. 1098). Meanwhile, Midlothian Heritage (ranked 48th) will meet Kaufman (ranked 566th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
