Basketball Recap: LAMARQUIS DOUGLAS's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pocomoke over Bennett

Pocomoke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 83-76 to the Bennett Clippers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (62), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Pocomoke lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was LAMARQUIS DOUGLAS, who went 7-for-11 to rack up 15 points and three steals. Those 15 points gave him a new career-high. ZYMIERE WALKER was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took to post 10 points.

Even though they lost, Pocomoke smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in 15 consecutive matches.

Zakai Smullen was his usual excellent self, putting up 26 points for Bennett. The game was Smullen's fourth in a row with at least 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Brittingham, who posted 15 points.

Pocomoke's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Bennett, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Coming up, Pocomoke will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge-South Dorchester at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Bennett has already played their next matchup (against Crisfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
