Baseball Game Preview: Desert Oasis Diamondbacks vs. Shadow Ridge Mustangs

The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks will take on the Shadow Ridge Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Desert Oasis' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against The Meadows School as they made off with a 9-0 win.

Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge faced Las Vegas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Wildcats. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.

Jackson Nelson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anthony Montesanti, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyson Rollo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Shadow Ridge lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Shadow Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Desert Oasis, their win bumped their record up to 18-11.

Desert Oasis was able to grind out a solid victory over Shadow Ridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-0. Will the Diamondbacks repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
