Recap: Wingfield Falcons vs. Murrah Mustangs

This season hasn't been kind to the Wingfield Falcons, who are still winless after their ninth match. They were the victim of a tough 76-54 defeat at the hands of Murrah on Tuesday. Wingfield lost against Murrah in their previous head to head back in December of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 73-67 score last time.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Arrington, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Arrington scored a full 37% of Wingfield's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Orenthal Claiborne, who scored 11 points.

Wingfield struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.

Wingfield bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Murrah, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wingfield will challenge Brookhaven at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brookhaven is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games. As for Murrah, they will head out on the road to face off against Canton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Canton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Murrah in Mississippi (Canton is ranked fifth, while Murrah is ranked 208th).
