Softball Recap: Holt Comes Up Short

Holt extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-13. They came up short against the West Blocton Tigers, falling 25-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 on Tuesday.

As for West Blocton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-8-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For West Blocton's part, Khloey Forsythe made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Forsythe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, West Blocton got a massive performance out of Koli Hobson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Hobson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AVA Wyatt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holt will venture away from home to face off against American Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Blocton, they will head out to take on Pelham at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
