Softball Game Preview: Kennebunk Rams vs. Windham Eagles

Kennebunk hasn't had much luck against Windham recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will square off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Kennebunk and Sanford meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Rams put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 18-1 win. The Rams' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Mia McCarthy, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kourtney Brask, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Kennebunk always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sanford only posted an OBP of .400.

Meanwhile, Windham came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly ten runs.

The win got Kennebunk back to even at 2-2. As for Windham, their record is now 2-0.

Kennebunk came up short against Windham in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, falling 4-0. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
