Baseball Recap: Eight Straight Home Wins for Othello

Othello's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Ephrata Tigers a 3-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.

Ephrata's batters probably weren't too happy with Aiden Garza, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up zero walks).

At the plate, Othello's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Montemayor, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Othello's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Ephrata, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Othello is set to square off against their familiar foe Selah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 1.4, the Vikings 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Ephrata will face off against rival Quincy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
