Football Recap: Mancos Comes Up Short

Mancos and Akron squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Mancos had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Rams, falling 62-26.

Mancos lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jonah H Ritter, who rushed for 116 yards, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and one score. Mancos is 5-1 when H Ritter posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise. Michael Resner was in the mix as well, providing the Bluejays with two TDs.

Akron's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kolten Randel led the charge by rushing for 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 82 yards and four TDs. That's the most passing touchdowns Randel has posted since back in August of 2024. Jace Curtis was another key player, gaining 191 total yards and three touchdowns.

Mancos' defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Akron, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Mancos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Akron, they will take on Sanford at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 947 yards in their previous games.
