Softball Recap: St. Augustine Catholic Takes a Loss

After flying high against Tempe Prep on Wednesday, St. Augustine Catholic came back down to earth. The Wolves lost 24-0 to the Morenci Wildcats on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolves of the 31-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

St. Augustine Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Morenci, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Augustine Catholic will square off against Palo Verde at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Morenci, they will challenge Fort Thomas at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Apaches have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.28 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
