Basketball Game Preview: Huntington Raiders vs. Captain Shreve Gators

The Huntington Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Captain Shreve Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Huntington is headed into Tuesday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They lost to Evangel Christian Academy on the road by a 70-54 margin on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Raiders came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Eagles are ranked 170th).

Huntington might have lost, but man, Keonte Kennedy was a machine: he went 7 of 16 en route to 20 points along with five assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Kennedy a new career-high in points. Tyler Welch was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Captain Shreve waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 58-48.

Captain Shreve is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 30-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Huntington, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.

Huntington didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Captain Shreve in their previous meeting on January 7th, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Huntington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
