Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jackson Mangham and Ty Walburn Lead Olentangy to Victory

Olentangy picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Lancaster Golden Gales with a sharp 69-45 win. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 22 points or more this season.

Olentangy was led to victory by Ty Walburn and Jackson Mangham. Walburn almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, while Mangham dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Those 17 points gave Mangham a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ceasar Abouchahine, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds.

Olentangy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in four consecutive contests.

Olentangy's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Lancaster, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

When Olentangy and Lancaster next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Olentangy will try to stop Poinciana's three-game winning streak when the meet at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Olentangy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.7 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Lancaster will try to stop Horizon Science Academy's six-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
