Softball Recap: Seaman Extends Winning Streak to Six

Seaman had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Piper Pirates with a sharp 10-3 win. Considering the Vikings have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lydia Dreher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Avery Phelps was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Acey Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Seaman hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.

Seaman's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Piper, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Seaman and Piper will both be playing West the next time they take the field. The Vikings will host the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Pirates will host them at 4:00 p.m. on May 14.
