Baseball Game Preview: Sidney Yellowjackets vs. Fairborn Skyhawks

Sidney is a perfect 5-0 against Fairborn since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Yellowjackets will host the Skyhawks at 5:00 p.m. Sidney's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four contests, but Friday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sidney lost 8-2 to Tippecanoe on Wednesday.

Elijah Cotterman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sidney saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Knott, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fairborn, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against Piqua on Wednesday as they made off with a 9-2 victory. The Skyhawks not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16th (when they won 11-4).

Sidney's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Fairborn, their win bumped their record up to 6-10-1.

Everything went Sidney's way against Fairborn when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Sidney made off with an 11-4 victory. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Skyhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
