Pahrump Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 70-6 win over The Meadows School. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 24 points or more this season.
Pahrump Valley had a senior duo take command as Kayne Horibe rushed for 90 yards and one score and Josh Slusher rushed for 79 yards and one touchdown. Slusher's longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards.
Pahrump Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 397 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Pahrump Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Booey Mclard, Christian Ramiscal, Ryan Hamlin, and Lucas Gavenda picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley were almost perfectly matched up last Friday, but Moapa Valley suffered an 18-17 defeat.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Briggs Hickman and Drew Dixon. Dixon had a solid game and gained 112 total yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Hickman was balling out in the loss, rushing for 170 yards and one TD while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also picking up 36 receiving yards.
Pahrump Valley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Moapa Valley, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Pahrump Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 198.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Moapa Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 181.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Pahrump Valley was taken down by Moapa Valley 42-7 in their previous meeting back in October. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Pirates' Kamden Drosos, who threw for 234 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in one rushing score.
