Softball Game Preview: Northwest Texans vs. Byron Nelson Bobcat

The Northwest Texans will head out on the road to face off against the Byron Nelson Bobcat at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northwest has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 10.

Southlake Carroll hit Northwest with a seven-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Texans came up short against the Dragons, falling 13-2.

Byron Nelson came out on top against V.R. Eaton on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Bobcat were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Bobcat have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Marley Hall and Kaylee Vien did most of the damage at the plate: Hall went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Vien went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave Hall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Cleary, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Byron Nelson is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Northwest, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

Northwest might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Byron Nelson in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Texans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
