Basketball Recap: Redeemer Christian Takes a Loss

Redeemer Christian suffered their biggest defeat since December 20, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs and fell 61-26. The matchup marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Redeemer Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Graidy Hughes, who posted eight points and six rebounds, and Gavin Wilke, who had four points. The dominant performance also gave Hughes a new career-high in blocks (two).

Leading Meadowbrook Academy to victory were Zach Ross and Beau Suarez. Ross went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Suarez went 8 of 18 on his way to 19 points. The contest was Ross' third in a row with at least ten points. Luke Charske was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Redeemer Christian dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Meadowbrook Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Redeemer Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Hall at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th. Redeemer Christian is facing Oak Hall at the right time seeing as Oak Hall is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-54 victory against Saint Francis Catholic on the 13th.
