Football Recap: Erwin Warriors vs. Parkwood Wolf Pack
With a playoff game on the line, Erwin rose to the challenge on Friday. They really took it to the Parkwood Wolf Pack for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-25 win. The victory was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on eight straight.
A big part of Erwin's win came down to the chemistry between Caden Ingle and his top target Lawson Reynolds. Ingle threw for 373 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt while Reynolds gained 209 total yards and three touchdowns. Reynolds showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 61 yards. Amarion Smith helped Ingle out on the ground, rushing for 136 yards on only 14 carries.
Emmett Evans and Knowshaun Taylor certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Evans threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns, while Taylor gained 112 total yards and three touchdowns. What's more, Taylor also racked up 93 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September. A healthy portion of Evans' aerial production (106 yards to be exact) went to Nisiah Smith.
Erwin's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points per game. As for Parkwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Erwin will play host again on Friday to welcome Smoky Mountain, where kickoff is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Smoky Mountain's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three games. Parkwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
