Basketball Recap: Easley Comes Up Short

Easley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 65-36 loss at the hands of the J.L. Mann Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Patriots are ranked 39th).

Several Green Wave players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abbi Vite, who posted 12 points and five boards. Kate Kelley was another key player, putting up six points.

J.L. Mann's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Imari Richardson led the charge by going 7 for 10 en route to 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia McKinney, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and six assists.

Easley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for J.L. Mann, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Easley has already played their next match, a 53-31 loss against Woodmont on the 14th. As for J.L. Mann, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-49 win against T.L. Hanna on the 14th.
