Mt. Carmel is 9-1 against Lawrenceville since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mt. Carmel Golden Aces will venture away from home to face off against the Lawrenceville Indians at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Mt. Carmel not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6, 2024. They put the hurt on Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine with a sharp 12-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Aces in their matchups with Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine: they've now won four in a row.
Will Reed made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Reed was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Levi Banks, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brendan Bowser, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, Lawrenceville got the win against Red Hill on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-2.
Like Mt. Carmel, Lawrenceville also got a great game from a two-way player: Boston Gray. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gray was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Maddox Pargin and Wyalan Bice did most of the damage at the plate: Pargin scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Bice went 1-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Pargin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Noah Wilson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Lawrenceville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Red Hill only posted an OBP of .400.
Mt. Carmel pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrenceville, their record is now 2-0.
Mt. Carmel came out on top in a nail-biter against Lawrenceville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Does Mt. Carmel have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lawrenceville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
