Avella is 0-10 against West Greene since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Eagles will square off against the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. Avella is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Avella's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over Fort Cherry. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Avrey Rado made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Rado was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

Bradbury scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Strope went 2-for-4 with four runs and four RBI. Those four runs gave Bradbury a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Buel, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Avella always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, West Greene is still undefeated this season after their contest against Avonworth on Saturday, but Avonworth came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Pioneers came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Antelopes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pioneers have posted since April 18, 2024.
Payton Gilbert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Emmaline Beazell was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylee Davis, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Avella's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for West Greene, their record now sits at 5-0.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Avella has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like West Greene struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Avella might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from West Greene in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
