Soccer Game Preview: Canton vs. Mexico

The Canton Tigers are taking a road trip to challenge the Mexico Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Canton's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers last Thursday. Canton lost 8-0 to Kirksville. While losing is never fun, Canton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri soccer rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Kirksville is ranked 66th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Mexico made sure to put some goals up on the board against Wright City on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 4-2.

Canton's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Mexico, their victory ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 4-9.

Canton suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Mexico when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
