Softball Recap: Walnut Ridge Gets the Win

Walnut Ridge gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Manila Lions. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Ashtyn Bradley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Walnut Ridge let Whitley White and Karlee Broadway run wild. White went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Broadway scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most RBI White has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyla Woods, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Walnut Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Manila, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walnut Ridge will welcome Sloan-Hendrix at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greyhounds have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Manila, they will be playing at home against Buffalo Island Central at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
