Baseball Recap: Rio Vista Wins Going Away Against Bethel

Rio Vista won the last time they faced Bethel and things went their way on Monday too. The Rams were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Jaguars. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

John Brimmer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Rio Vista is 2-1 when Brimmer allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Brimmer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmett Medders, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Leland Jennings was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

The win got Rio Vista back to even at 10-10. As for Bethel, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-15.

Rio Vista didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against Lindhurst on the 29th. As for Bethel, they have also already played their next game, a 15-5 defeat against Vallejo on the 30th.
