Section 9 C-I recap September 17, 2013
Matt Przybocki of Burke Catholic ran for the longest rushing play in Section 9 C-I this season against Ellenville last week. Przybocki scampered for 79 yards on the play and finished with 194 on the day as his team defeated the Blue Devils.
Burke Catholic scaled the state rankings by moving to 166 from 280 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Ed Van Curen's team was able to make move up by topping Ellenville 29-6.
O'Neill's dynamic duo of Keegan West and Malik Chambers proved tough for Liberty to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. West threw for 117 yards and Chambers had 89 yards receiving. Nathan Shepherd helped O'Neill's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 14 yards.
The Raiders' dynamic duo of West and Chambers proved to be unstoppable against the Indians, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
West put up the best numbers in passing as O'Neill bested Liberty.
Przybocki was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Stephen Cushing added to the ground attack by rushing for 119 yards.
Chambers was the best receiver in Section 9 C-I this week as Anthony Finochio's team bested John Wilhelm's team.
Przybocki was a passing and rushing force as the Eagles defeated Tony Boriello's team. Przybocki's key target this week was Tom Connolly, who caught 2 passes for 29 yards.
The Raiders' West and Chambers have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback West has thrown for 199 yards this season, while Chambers has 7 catches for 102 yards. Przybocki from Burke Catholic leads the league in rushing with 354 yards.
The Blue Devils are currently in fourth, while O'Neill is in first.
The Raiders and the Indians played the most contested game in the league this week, with the Raiders eventually emerging with a 21-20 victory. Chambers ran for 118 yards in the win.
