Baseball Game Preview: Bristow Pirates vs. Sperry Pirates

Bristow will challenge Sperry at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Bristow and Cushing had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Bristow came up short against Cushing on Tuesday, falling 21-14. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Haydan Yocham made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Crouch, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sperry, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Keys on Monday as Sperry made off with an 11-1 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Pirates' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Sperry's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Bristow, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Bristow was able to grind out a solid victory over Sperry in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Does Bristow have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sperry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
