Football Recap: Rylee Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Smoky Mountain over Pisgah

Smoky Mountain was the 27-14 winner over Pisgah when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs received a blow on Friday as they fell 29-14 to the Bears.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rylee Smith, who rushed for 101 yards and one touchdown. Smith's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.

Smoky Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Pisgah, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smoky Mountain will square off against East Henderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 47.25 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Pisgah, they will take on North Henderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will be up against the Knights' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
