Volleyball Recap: Salpointe Catholic Falls Short Against Ranked Santa Margarita

Salpointe Catholic is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Santa Margarita. The Lancers fell 2-0 to the Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lancers of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2021.

Their offense was headlined by Natalie Mobley and Kate Mobley, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Caitlin Hurley and her 14 assists.

Salpointe Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-3 record this season. As for Santa Margarita, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Salpointe Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Desert Hills on the 27th. As for Santa Margarita, they will welcome Mater Dei at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
