Hancock extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-5 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Fort Hill Sentinels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Wednesday.
Blaire Ray put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Ray wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Hendershot, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
As for Fort Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The match marked their most dominant victory of the season.
Like Hancock, Fort Hill also got a great game from a two-way player: Bobby Brauer. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brauer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob VanMeter, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Coye Resh was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Hancock will face off against GVCS Broadfording at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Hill, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-3 win against South Hagerstown on the 19th.
