Recap: Medora Hornets vs. Lighthouse Christian Academy Lions
If the Medora Hornets were feeling good off their 54-32 takedown of the Christian Academy of Madison Defenders on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Medora took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lighthouse Christian Academy on Friday. Medora was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lighthouse Christian Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Medora's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Aaralyn Hackney, who scored 18 points, and Jenna Bowers who scored 19 points. Bowers scored a full 45.2% of Medora's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lighthouse Christian Academy was led to victory by Ellie mae Winders and Abagail Rousey. Winders scored 15 points along with 8 assists and 8 rebounds, while Rousey dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Winders continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jane Holdeman, who scored 6 points.
The last time Medora won on the road was back last Saturday. Having now lost four straight away matchups, they've bumped their record down to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Lighthouse Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Medora will take on Southwestern at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Southwestern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. Lighthouse Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mooresville Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Hopefully Mooresville Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.
