Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Takes a Loss

Faith Christian was the 52-51 winner over Life Christian Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Faith Christian Lions were beaten by the Life Christian Academy Lions 80-48 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Faith Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Life Christian Academy is ranked 112th).

Yariel Bonilla had a dynamite game for Life Christian Academy, going 10 of 12 en route to 23 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Bonilla a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordani Johnson, who posted nine points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Faith Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Life Christian Academy, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.

Faith Christian will welcome Clay at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Life Christian Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Trinity Lutheran at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
