Football Game Preview: Montbello Warriors vs. Denver North Vikings

The Montbello Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Denver North Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Denver North took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Montbello, who comes in off a win.

Montbello will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against George Washington on Friday. The Warriors took down the Patriots 38-21.

Amari Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 209 yards and three scores while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. Those 209 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Montbello was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 238 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Montbello didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Brad Pixler led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Pixler is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Denver North fell victim to Northfield and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a blow against the Nighthawks, falling 36-0. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Nighthawks are ranked 49th).

This is the second loss in a row for Denver North and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Montbello, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.

Montbello came up short against Denver North in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 21-9. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
