Football Recap: Kofa Takes a Loss

After flying high against Somerton last Friday, Kofa came back down to earth. The Kings were dealt a 63-6 loss at the hands of the Gila Ridge Hawks on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Kings in their meetings with the Hawks: they've now lost seven in a row.

It was another big night for Prentes Boxx lll, who rushed for 240 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.0 yards per carry for Gila Ridge. Boxx lll really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. Isaac Soliz was another key player, throwing for 192 yards and five TDs on only 17 passes.

Kofa now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Gila Ridge, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Coming up, Kofa will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Desert Sunrise at 7:00 p.m. As for Gila Ridge, they will venture away from home to face off against Somerton at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Hawks will be up against the Toros' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
