Softball Recap: Franklin Pierce's Undefeated Season over After Eight Games

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last six contests, Franklin Pierce finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They lost 11-1 to the Cascade Christian Cougars. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cardinals, who until this match were averaging 3.63 runs allowed.

Kiley Sledge was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Franklin Pierce fell to 7-1. As for Cascade Christian, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

Looking ahead, Franklin Pierce will challenge Eatonville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cruisers have averaged an impressive 11.9 runs per game this season. As for Cascade Christian, they will square off against Klahowya at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The game will give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season.
