Softball Recap: Isabella Peed Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Tri

Northeastern lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Tri, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Knights never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Not much got past Hailey Elsrod, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Tri off the board. Elsrod has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Isabella Peed was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Allen, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Northeastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2025.

Northeastern's record now sits at 5-1. As for Tri, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Northeastern will take on Richmond in a tournament on Saturday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tri, they will host Eastern Hancock at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
