Baseball Game Preview: Henry Clay Blue Devils vs. Madison Southern Eagles

The Henry Clay Blue Devils will head out to challenge the Madison Southern Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, Henry Clay sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over George Rogers Clark. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madison Southern). Everything went their way against Bryan Station on Thursday as Madison Southern made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Eagles' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Henry Clay pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Madison Southern, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.
