Baseball Recap: Harlingen Has No Trouble Against Raymondville

Harlingen won the last time they faced Raymondville and things went their way on Saturday too. Harlingen came out on top against Raymondville by a score of 8-3. That five run margin sets a new team best for the Cardinals this season.

The team relied heavily on Jayden Nunez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dominic Gonzales, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Nunez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Harlingen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Raymondville only managed four hits.

Harlingen now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Raymondville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harlingen will face off against Veterans Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give Harlingen their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Raymondville, they will challenge Progreso at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Progreso will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Raymondville surely won't give up without a fight.
