Baseball Recap: Nansemond River Comes Up Short

Nansemond River lost against Grassfield back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Warriors came up short against the Grizzlies, falling 11-1. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nansemond River saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Guerra, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Peyton Hartsfield also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Nansemond River's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Grassfield, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nansemond River will square off against Greenbrier Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gators will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grassfield, they will face off against Woodside at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season.
