Baseball Recap: Nordonia Find Success

After losing to Twinsburg the last time they met, Nordonia decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Knights skirted past the Tigers 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Tigers since April 26, 2017.

Nordonia got a great performance from Evan Leitner as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Leitner is becoming a predictor of the Knights' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 1-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Nordonia saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Leffel, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Justin Smigel also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Nordonia's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Twinsburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Nordonia will have a chance to go back-to-back against Twinsburg: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
