Basketball Game Preview: South Effingham Mustangs vs. Savannah Bluejackets

The South Effingham Mustangs will square off against the Savannah Bluejackets at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. South Effingham has given up an average of 71.8 points per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Effingham is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Saturday. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-67 heartbreaker at the hands of Bryan County. On the bright side, the 67- point performance marked the Mustangs' highest-scoring game to date.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Michael Hall, who posted 19 points. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Benja Crofts, who had ten points.

Meanwhile, Savannah took a blow against Butler on Saturday, falling 56-29. The loss put an end to the Bluejackets' undefeated start to the season.

South Effingham's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Savannah, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

South Effingham couldn't quite get it done against Savannah when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as they fell 71-62. Thankfully for the Mustangs, Jermaine Edwards (who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
