Baseball Game Preview: Walnut Wildcats vs. New Site Royals

The Walnut Wildcats will take on the New Site Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Walnut's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Thrasher as Walnut made off with a 12-0 win. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Site). They blew past Belmont 19-1 on Saturday. Considering the Royals have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Rilyn Lambert, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Stanley, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

New Site always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .774. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

New Site's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Walnut, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Walnut couldn't quite finish off New Site in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can Walnut avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
