Recap: Hurricane Redskins vs. Winfield Generals
The Hurricane Redskins were the 48-40 winner over the Winfield Generals when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Hurricane fell 48-36 to Winfield on Thursday.
When it comes to explaining why Hurricane lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alexandra Andrerson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Anderson, who scored 8 points along with 16 rebounds and 4 steals.
Winfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gabriella Canterbury led the charge by scoring 15 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ashlee Johnson, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Hurricane's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Winfield, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hurricane will challenge Parkersburg South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Robert C. Byrd at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
