Baseball Game Preview: Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS vs. Clark Montessori Cougars

The Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS will venture away from home to face off against the Clark Montessori Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Madeira is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Madeira fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Reading on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Evan Cissell spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Clark Montessori didn't have quite enough to beat Seven Hills on Monday and fell 3-2. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Stingers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Garvin Dixon put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Dixon was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Dixon wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Ernst, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Madeira's record now sits at 15-7. As for Clark Montessori, their record is now 11-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Madeira has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Clark Montessori struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Madeira took their win against Clark Montessori in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
