Basketball Game Preview: St. Cecilia Bluehawks vs. Adams Central Patriots

St. Cecilia and Adams Central are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The St. Cecilia Bluehawks will host the Adams Central Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

St. Cecilia saw some tournament action on Thursday. They were beaten by Kearney Catholic 65-28. While losing is never fun, the Bluehawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Stars are ranked 113th).

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Adams Central's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crete.

Despite the loss, Adams Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hunter Nepple posted 28 points. Nepple's evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Vontz, who had 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Cecilia and nudges their season record down to 1-16. As for Adams Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

St. Cecilia took a serious blow against Adams Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 63-27. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point St. Cecilia was down 30-9.
