After only two runs in their last contest, Pleasant Plains made sure to put some runs up on the board against Athens on Tuesday. The Cardinals walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Warriors. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pleasant Plains got a massive performance out of Aspen Kitowski, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Kitowski has launched this season. Lexie Shimkus was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pleasant Plains kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are undefeated (5-0) when they post 11 or more hits.

Pleasant Plains' record now sits at 8-4-1. As for Athens, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant Plains will venture away from home to take on Taylorville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Athens, they will head out to challenge New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
