Basketball Recap: Brysen Grimes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tuscarawas Central Catholic over East Canton

Tuscarawas Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Canton Hornets. The contest marked the Saints' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Tuscarawas Central Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brysen Grimes, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Grimes a new career-high in assists (two). Ethan Rothrock was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 13 points.

Even though they lost, Tuscarawas Central Catholic was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Tuscarawas Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for East Canton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tuscarawas Central Catholic will host Conotton Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Canton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Malvern at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Malvern will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something East Canton surely won't give up without a fight.
