Basketball Game Preview: Lutheran South Academy Pioneers vs. CHSA HomeSchool Wolverines

The Lutheran South Academy Pioneers will challenge the CHSA HomeSchool Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran South Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Lutheran South Academy is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Logos Prep Academy on Friday. Lutheran South Academy fell 56-49 to Logos Prep Academy.

Despite the loss, Lutheran South Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Annaliese De La Pena went 9 of 14 en route to 21 points and six rebounds. That's the most boards De La Pena has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Olivia Varanauski, who posted 13 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lutheran South Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, CHSA HomeSchool lost 41-20 to St. John's on Tuesday. The match marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Lutheran South Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for CHSA HomeSchool, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
